Photographic series

digital photography, under plexiglass, aluminum on dibond

60x86.7 cm

This series of photos was taken using my father's desktop scanner. The desire to repurpose this everyday object emerged during my partial visits to my parents' house during my hospitalization following a bout of depression. It's an object where the camera controls everything: the brightness, the format, the focal length. I sought to immortalize the flowers I was given and that I watched dying.

The machine reads a document line by line, an image; it's a single shot where you can't cheat. This photographic process reminds me of analog photography and the beginnings of photography: the scanned object must be static because the slightest movement and the image is blurred.
