Tearing up a photograph is not a trivial act. To cross my arms through the image, I had to cut this photo. It depicts the mountains around my grandmother's house.
Yet I seem to embrace the image. My grandmother died this year, in 2023. When I last saw her, the anti-COVID protocol required that she be separated by a glass wall for visits to a nursing home. The photo, here, is like a wall I'm trying to cross. I take the photograph in my arms, the mountain of my grandmother's house, my grandmother.
