INTERIOR-NIGHT

2016

Digital photography

digital prints on matte paper mounted on dibond

109 x 164 cm

The title Intérieur Nuit echoes the spatial cues of cinema, where space and light define atmospheres and narratives. Here, photography takes possession of the space and redraws its contours. The studio, once visible, disappears, remaining only through its image, transformed into a setting where the body becomes a point of passage between two realities.

In this diptych composition, two temporalities coexist, marked by contrasting lights: on one side, a cold white light evokes the world of the studio; on the other, a warmer, more intimate light recalls interior lighting. The fragmented body pierces the image, introducing a tension between presence and absence, between reality and representation. This play of appearance and disappearance, accentuated by the physical perforations of the image, blurs the boundaries between tangible space and its photographic reinterpretation.

Through this staging, Intérieur Nuit questions our perception of space and image: what remains of a place when it only exists in the form of representation?
